Salicylic Acid 10%

:

Salicylic acid is stronger than, for example, Glycolic acid, and therefore it is often used with lower potency. Salicylic acid is a proven and effective product for the treatment of oily/acne skin that is prone to getting blackheads.

Salicylic acid Åtterfinns deep in the heart of the bark of Videträ and in Birches, and is the main ingredient to restore purity and clarity to the skin. It is a very effective peelingagent and an excellent pornographic releaser with anti-wrinkle and anti-acne properties. It works by gently removing old cells from the skin surface, and also increases the production of collagen, which in turn can reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Salicylic acid has an anti-inflammatory effect, which makes it useful for anyone with acne and rosacea.

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acidic and is unique among the hydroxy acids in that it can penetrate deeper into the oil glands and exfoliate even in oily areas of the face. For this reason, the acid has long been used by dermatologists to treat Komedoakne in people who have very oily skin. It has been shown that salicylic acid is effective with as little as one fifth of the concentration normally found in products containing glycolic acid.

Even though salicylic acid is a more powerful exfoliator compared to glycolic acid, it is too many less irritating so this solution may be suitable for people who think that glycolic acid is too hard.

What is it used for? Salicylic acid has been known to help the following conditions

  • Acne
  • Rash after shaving
  • Rosacea
  • Blackheads
  • Overproduction of sebum (oily skin)
  • Open/enlarged pores
  • Bumps under the skin (trapped oil), milier

What is the PH value of this peeling?

This is a medium-strength peeling and has a PH value of 2.1

Do I need a neutralizing?

Not with this salicylic acid, you just need to rinse abundantly with cold or lukewarm water. Do not use hot water to rinse your face after peeling.

Will my face be tender and scaly?

There is a possibility that you can notice of slight flaking or dry patches with salicylic acid. Remember that this only speeds up a natural process that takes place in the skin. Yes you will apply an acid to the skin, but it is only left for a few minutes. It will knit slightly but the acid dissolves the binding of old, dead skin cells and does not remove your healthy, vibrant skin. You may experience some redness but this will disappear. Your skin may also be a bit after a treat, this is quite normal because it is part of the renewal process.

Note

do not use if you are allergic or sensitive to salicylic acid or acetylsalicylic acid, if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, are under 17 years of age, if you undergo any kind of intensive beauty treatment (microdermabrasion, glycolic acid treatment, tretinoin, laser therapy etc.) Or if you are on medication that increases skin sensitivity e.g. Roaccutane. We recommend that you do not use acid peeling within 12 months after you stop using Roaccutane. People who often have cold sores may find that chemical peels can cause an outbreak of cold sores and may want to take their meds before use or avoid using completely. Do not apply any acids to the skin when you have active cold sores.

If you are on medication, consult your doctor before use.

Salicylic acid can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight and especially the risk of sunburn. Use a sunscreen and limit strong sun exposure when using the product and for a week afterwards.
